We went to Washington DC on Memorial Day. It was a nice experience, although we got really tired!!! Papa drove almost 13 hours from our home in Lexington. We left at 11:00pm, and arrived at 12:00pm the following day. Also, there were so many people in the nation's capital that day, mainly because it was a holiday and a lot of people were celebrating the memories of their courageous countrymen, too.
Anyway, it was a really nice trip. I would really like to go back there again someday.
More of our adventures can be read in my mama's blog. Read more about our experience at "The Mall" here
.

A family picture at The Mall's Smithsonian museum in the background (as well as some portalets over there, hehehe)

That's the Capitol Building behind me. It's under construction, let's just go back next time.

Four scores and some additional years ago, this great man made a speech. That someday, I will visit his memorial building and take a picture with my mama. He's so smart!

Behind my papa is not the Rizal monument in Luneta, it's the Washington monument in DC! They look so much the same (although I havent been to Luneta yet, hehehe)

We were the first persons to ever have our picture taken by this new monument. It was inaugurated just yesterday. It's the new one for all the soldiers that went to war from all the different states. I'm looking for "Kentucky". Wow!

Just resting for a while. It's been a tiring day of driving and walking. White house background? Sure, why not.

We took the Metro going back to the hotel. It was a great day!
The following day, Sunday, we went to church. We went to the Immaculate Conception Shrine. It was soooo beautiful! Apparently, most of the Filipinos in the DC area went here to go to mass. Afterwards, we took a drive around the city. We drove by Dupont Circle, Georgetown, Adams Morgan, and the Embassy Row. Our last stop was the Washington National Cathedral. It's a different cathedral altogether because it calls itself a place of worship for all people, which basically means that whatever religion you have, you can worship here. It may sound confusing, but it sure is a politically-correct church!

Sunday Morning, we attended mass at the Immaculate Conception Shrine. The mass was even televised all over the world! Amen!
Papa posing at the steps leading to the church. He's all lonesome because I am not in the picture with him.
Papa has a great eye for taking pictures. Here are some of the pictures he took of the Washington National Cathedral.

And here's my Papa. Mama took this pic. It's slightly out-of-center, but hey, it's still, uh, art.

Hello! Mama is talking on the phone and I am posing. Later dudes!
Our last day in Washington DC, mama met up with her friend, Tito John. Right after lunch, we started on our way home. It was a really long drive so we had to make some stops at the rest areas. Here are some more of our pictures.

Here's Mama, me and Tito John. He's a really smart guy and mama loves him a lot. Miss you Tito John!

Here's Papa and me at one of our many rest stops. That's our car Monty. She's a great car!

Mama and me at the rest stop in West Virginia. Reminds mama so much of the John Denver song.
Almost heaven, West Virginia
Blue ridge mountains, Shenandoah river
Life is old there
Older than the trees
Younger than the mountains
Growin’ like a breeze
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain momma.
Take me home, country roads
And then, just like that, we're home.
It was a nice trip. Everybody should visit the capital at least once in their lives, especially the American people. This is where the power lies. And it is mighty.
Next stop... Newport, Kentucky.
